Get Your Read on with the Read-a-Thon

Chabot Librarians

Updated: May 4, 2020

In times like these, our school traditions are especially important, as they give us things to look forward to and keep us connected to one another.

One of our most beloved yearly events at Chabot is our annual Read-a-Thon. Like so many things these days, the Read-a-Thon has gone online. The Read-a-Thon runs April 27 until May 11, 2020.

It's a slightly different process, but the goals remain the same: Read, read, read and raise money for our school to fund the enrichments and support services that make our community so wonderful. Click here to access the Read-a-Thon donation page. Students can track their reading minutes online in their personal reading log spreadsheets, which have been shared by their teachers in Google Classroom.

Two prizes will be awarded in each classroom: one for the most time spent reading and one for the most money raised. As soon as it is safe for us to gather again, we will celebrate the classes who have read the most minutes with our usual pizza and popsicle parties.

To get you fired up to read, we reached out to two beloved local authors and friends of Chabot to offer us some reading pep talks. Enjoy these video greetings from Mac Barnett and Annie Barrows!
