Author Extravaganza!

Chabot Librarians

Some of our favorite authors and illustrators are stepping up in a big way to keep us reading and learning while we're away from school. Check out these links for online readings, drawing lessons, and more!

How would you like to hang out with Mo Willems, the wildly popular author-illustrator of the Elephant and Piggie, Knuffle Bunny, and Pigeon books, in his home studio? Mo says to grab some paper and pens, pencils, or crayons and join him for "Lunch Doodles," every day at 10 a.m.

If you're on Instagram, all-time Chabot favorite Mac Barnett is reading one of his books  (and wearing a different hat!) every day at noon on Instagram Live, and Oliver Jeffers, author-illustrator of The Way Back HomeLost and Found, Here We Are, The Fate of Fausto, and lots of other terrific books, is doing the same (well, not the hat part) at 11 a.m.

What book does every Chabot kid love? It won the California Young Reader Medal a couple of years ago, and we had to buy a second copy for the library because it was always checked out! It has a plain white cover with black type....If you guessed The Book with No Pictures, you're right! Watch the book's author, B. J. Novak, read his book to group of kids in New York.

Do you miss Narwhal and Jelly? On Friday, March 20th at 2 p.m., creator Ben Clanton will be on Facebook Live, and you can also check out the Narwhal and Jelly website for lots of great activities, including mazes, coloring pages, and jokes.

And, for a bit of fun, watch Dav Pilkey draw Dog Man!

Check out this Big List for even more links to children's book authors doing readings and activities online.
